The World: New York - Neo@Ogilvy buys stake in marketing consultancy

Neo@Ogilvy, WPP's digital and direct media network, has taken a majority stake in the search marketing consultancy Global Strategies International.

The US-based GSI specialises in so-called "search engine optimisation". This allows sites to be better "crawled" by search engines, enabling them to be more highly placed in search results.

Ken Mandel, Neo@Ogilvy's Asia-Pacific chief executive, said the plan was to integrate the GSI business into Neo, whose reach was recently extended to Hong Kong and Australia, and leverage its expertise. "We are now a one-stop shop for search," he added.
