The World: New York Nickelodeon halts broadcast to encourage play

Nickelodeon, the children's satellite channel, underwent a self-imposed three-hour blackout last Saturday in an effort to encourage children to take part in physical activity.

Nickelodeon and associated networks Nick GAS, Nicktoons and Noggin undertook the initiative as part of the fourth annual Worldwide Day of Play.

Viewers tuning in saw a Worldwide Day of Play logo and a message encouraging them to go out and play.
