The World: New York - Nitro acquires AKA as part of US expansion plan

Nitro, the agency network headed by Chris Clarke, is extending its presence in the US by acquiring the New York shop AKA Advertising.

AKA, along with its 70 staff and its biggest client, Foot Locker, the footwear and sportswear retailer, will be folded into Nitro's US operation. AKA's founders, Arie Kovant and Stan Schwarz, will remain on board for the time being.

Clarke said he had bought AKA for its "executional excellence and production".

He added that he was close to acquiring a US digital agency and to hiring a heavyweight executive creative director.
