The World: New York - Novartis switches $300m media account to MEC

Novartis, the pharmaceuticals giant, has moved its $300 million US media buying and planning business, including digital, from MindShare to Mediaedge:cia without a pitch.

Industry sources said the switch between agencies - both owned by WPP - was to realise efficiencies that could be made by aligning with one global agency network. MEC already handles Novartis in 60 countries.

The Switzerland-based Novartis manufactures over-the-counter remedies such as Excedrin headache tablets and the cold and flu treatment Theraflu.
