The World: New York - Starcom beats two to land $200m Macy's media

Starcom has won the $200 million media planning and buying business for the department store Macy's.

The agency pitched for the account against Media Planning Group and Initiative.

The business was previously handled in-house by Macy's. Starcom's appointment follows that of JWT Chicago to the creative account last week.

The news comes as Macy's, which is owned by Federated Department Stores, embarks on an aggressive expansion drive. Last year, the company acquired May Department Stores and, as a result, is adding more than 330 Macy's shops at former May and Marshall Fields locations, extending the company's retail network across more than 800 stores.
