The World: New York - US publishing giants form online sales alliance

Gannett, Hearst, The New York Times and Tribune Company are teaming up to form a joint online sales force that will sell national advertising across all of their websites.

The organisation, called quadrantOne, claims it can reach more than 50 million monthly unique visitors in most of the US's key markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

The deal will enable advertisers to place ads across several local websites with a single purchase, taking on established sites with national reach.
