The World: New York - Y&R hires Caplan to boost new-business prospects

Young & Rubicam has hired the Kaplan Thaler Group's Mitch Caplan as its chief marketing officer in charge of new-business development for North America. He replaces Sally Kennedy, who left after 20 months in the job.

Caplan spent more than two years at the Publicis Groupe-owned Kaplan Thaler in New York as its managing director of business development and integration. The agency's account wins during that time included Office Depot, Revlon and Pfizer's Lipitor.

Hamish McLennan, Y&R's worldwide chief executive, said: "He has a remarkable record of winning new business and understands interactive has to be at the core of our offering."
