The World: Oslo - Swedish and Norwegian venture plans sports channel

The Swedish broadcaster the Modern Times Group and the Norwegian public service broadcaster NRK have formed a strategic partnership to launch a sports channel in Norway.

The venture, which will be called Sport-N and will take the place of MTG's current service Viasat Sport 1, already has the broadcast rights to the qualifying games of football's 2008 European Championships and 2010 World Cup.

It also has the rights to the UK's Champions League games as well as the FA Cup, the Dutch and French football leagues and Formula One racing.

The channel will be available through the Viasat satellite platform and Norway's cable network.
