The World: Paris - JCDecaux/Publicis team wins Paris outdoor ad contract

JCDecaux has won the Paris outdoor advertising and street furniture contract in a shoot-out against Clear Channel.

Under the terms of the bid, the outdoor giant will maintain 1,600 panels and will create a 3,000-strong ad-funded bicycle service.

The winning bid was presented by Somupi, a joint venture between JCDecaux and Publicis. Clear Channel presented in association with France Telecom, EDF and Vinci Park.

Clear Channel was previously awarded the contract, only for the decision to be overturned after questions were asked about the tender process. The JCDecaux win still needs to be ratified by the Paris City Council.

JCDecaux revenues rose 11.5 per cent in 2006 to EUR1.9 billion.
