The World: Paris - Publicis Groupe snaps up $182m Business Interactif

Digitas has moved its global expansion plans forward in the wake of its sale to Publicis Groupe by buying the French digital agency Business Interactif.

The $182 million deal will result in the creation of Digitas France. Publicis Groupe will buy 49 per cent of the Business Interactif shares controlled by its founders Emmanuel Henrion and Francois de la Villardiere. They will lead Digitas France for the next three years.

Publicis Groupe has made the global expansion of Digitas a priority since acquiring it for $1.3 billion in 2006.

Maurice Levy, the Publicis Groupe chairman, said: "Our ambition is to offer the most advanced expertise in digital and mobile communications."
