The World: Port-of-Spain - T&T offers tax breaks to lure ads producers

The Trinidad and Tobago government is offering tax incentives to encourage production companies and agencies to shoot commercials on the islands.

Officials claim the rebates - which could result in savings of up to £150,000 - will be higher than those in many more established locations. They range from 12.5 per cent for productions costing up to £260,000 to 30 per cent for those costing more than £520,000.

Carla Foderingham, the chief executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Film Commission, said: "It's our intention to create a vibrant industry that will see Trinidad and Tobago become the premier production centre of the Caribbean. We're making a late entry as an active film-producing country and, as such, it's a really exciting time for us."
