Clifford Chance, soon to become the world’s largest law firm, has

been talking to agencies about a global corporate advertising

campaign.

Its head of marketing communications, Jeremy Knott, has contacted

multinational networks about a possible campaign to build the firm’s

reputation as a leading expert in corporate and public law around the

world.

The move follows news that Clifford Chance will merge with the New York

lawyers, Rogers & Wells, and the German legal partnership, Punder

Volhard Weber & Axster. These, and a proposal to merge with Australia’s

Mallesons Stephen Jacques, would catapult the company from the world’s

number three to number one law firm.

Knott was unavailable for comment as Campaign went to press, but he is

understood to have held meetings with Saatchi & Saatchi and Ogilvy &

Mather about a campaign. It is unclear whether the project has been

given the green light from senior management at Clifford Chance.
