The World: Shanghai - Expo organisers to return $29m of tobacco funds

The organisers of the Shanghai World Expo 2010 have been forced to return around $29 million in sponsorship funds given to it by the Shanghai Tobacco Group, in an effort to promote the event as health conscious.

Shanghai Tobacco Group made the sponsorship donation in May, helping it to become the largest single sponsor of the China Pavilion since fundraising began in 2007.

China currently accounts for around one-third of the world's tobacco market, with almost 350 million smokers.
