Lowe will not be appointing a replacement, meaning all of the agency's Asia offices will now report directly back to the UK.
Gilbert is the latest in a line of senior Lowe executives to leave the company since the worldwide chief executive, Tony Wright (pictured), restructured the region into four hubs to make it easier to manage and bring down wage costs.
Following the restructure, Gilbert saw his role changed from Asia-Pacific chairman to chief executive for North and South-East Asia.
