The World: Singapore - Gilbert steps down as Lowe Asia-Pacific chairman

Nigel Gilbert is quitting as the Lowe Worldwide chairman and chief executive for Asia-Pacific, after almost two years in the job. He is not being replaced.

His departure follows Lowe's move to a new global structure based on so-called "lighthouse" lead agencies in major markets. These include the Mumbai, Bangkok, Shanghai and Sydney offices, which report directly to the network's global headquarters.

Lowe's Asia-Pacific agencies suffered a major setback last year when the network lost the HSBC business, sparking a major consolidation of its operations in the region.
