The World: Sydney - Consumer confidence on the increase, study finds

Consumer confidence in Australia is on the rise, with the public more willing to spend money on luxury items, a new study has found.

According to the strategic market research company The Leading Edge, more than half of the consumers surveyed felt that the economy was improving and that they were more inclined than before to spend money on holidays, restaurants and electronic goods.

However, despite the renewed sense of optimism, The Leading Edge warned that consumers are still heavily scrutinising whether the brands they are purchasing provide good value for money.
