The World: Sydney - M&C Saatchi loosens grip on Qantas business

M&C Saatchi's grip on the Qantas account has been weakened after the airline's decision to award part of its frequent flyer account to the direct marketing specialist Lavender.

Lavender won the business in a pitch against M&C Saatchi, which has handled the multimillion-dollar Qantas business since 1995.

Its founder, Will Lavender, has previous experience with Qantas, having worked on its frequent flyer programme while at M&C Saatchi.

The airline is planning a major relaunch of its frequent flyer programme, which has about five million members, later this year.
