The World: Sydney - Study says consumers are overloaded by advertising

A new study has found that consumers are feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of advertising that they are exposed to on a daily basis, and that they are becoming increasingly conscious of brands that use the global economic downturn to sell products.

The study, conducted by Ipsos Mackay Advertising, found consumers viewing ads in an increasingly negative light, with many feeling that more restrictions are needed to stop brands infiltrating their everyday life.

The report also noted that many consumers were unhappy with the number of ads that are ill-timed or misplaced in the current climate.
