The World: Sydney - Universal hangs on to Unilever planning and buying

Unilever Australia has reappointed Universal McCann to handle its media planning and buying account, following a two-way pitch.

Universal held off a challenge from MindShare to retain the account and buck a global trend that has seen Unilever choosing either Initiative or MindShare over the incumbent in a string of pitches across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In a statement, the Unilever media director, Sophie Madden, said: "We worked with Universal for six years and thought it was time to look at whether there was a better agency moving forward, or whether it was the right agency. We feel comfortable that this decision will ensure Unilever drives excellence in media in the Australian market."
