The World: Tokyo - Dentsu posts interim financial results

Dentsu's interim financial results for the year ending March 2004 show a 13.1 per cent growth in billings and a 11.9 per cent rise in profits, year on year.

Dentsu's president, Tateo Mataki, announced billings of Y923.4 billion (£4.8 billion) and a Y151.6 billion gross profit for the period April to September 2004, citing Japan's improved economy, the Olympics and a summer heatwave for the improved results. The company predicts that the financial year will end with billings up 8.5 per cent.

The company has announced a the creation of a new arm, Dentsu Table Media Communications, which will produce materials for point-of-sale advertising.
