The World: Toronto - Downtown Partners closes doors on Toronto office

The Omnicom-owned Downtown Partners is to shut its 40-strong Toronto office after the loss of its flagship Labatt Breweries of Canada account.

The office was opened in 2001 specifically to handle the Labatt business, which accounted for about 40 per cent of its revenue.

However, the relationship came to an end in November when the brewer switched the account to Grip Limited and Publicis Toronto.

The Labatt business handled by the agency included Budweiser, Bud Light and Keith's. Other agency accounts, which include Pepsi-QTG Canada, Sony of Canada and the Red Cross, may be switched to other Omnicom shops.
