World: Warsaw - G&J launches new division for Eastern Europe

The German publishing group Gruner & Jahr is bundling its operations in Central and Eastern Europe into a division called G&J International.

Based in Warsaw and headed by Mario Huston, the executive vice-president of the company, the new division has been created to improve profitability in the region's rapidly expanding markets.

All G&J's individual chief executives in this region will now report to Huston.

Hachette and Burda in merger The publishing groups Hachette Filipacchi Medias and the Burda Group are merging their editorial operations in Poland. The merger will see the creation of a new, as-yet-unnamed, holding company. Burda will form 51 per cent of the management, while Hachette will take the remaining positions.
