The World: Washington - Senator calls for curbs on 'violent TV content'

Media companies in the US have been accused by Senator Jay Rockefeller of putting business before the health of the nations's children.

Rockefeller showed the Senate Commerce Committee clips from The Shield and Rescue Me to back up his argument. He said he was considering drafting legislation aimed at curbing what he called the impact violent TV content was having. He argued: "Media companies have placed greater emphasis on short-term profits."
