The World: Washington - Strong growth in political advertising predicted

Political advertising in the US is expected to rise by about 11 per cent year on year during 2010, a new report has said.

According to the research group Wells Fargo Securities, the money being spent on political advertising could hit $3.3 billion next year, the largest amount spent on the sector since 2006.

The expected increase is anticipated because of the impending election of 37 governors and 38 senators, and because of the planned rise in issue advertising, which aims to help raise awareness of matters such as healthcare and crime.
