The World: Zagreb - Metro International unveils Croatia freesheet

Metro International is launching a free newspaper in Croatia this week after signing a franchise agreement with Europapress Holding, Croatia's leading newspaper publisher.

Europapress will produce and distribute 260,000 copies daily of Metro Express in cities including Zagreb.

Metro will receive a franchise fee based on Europapress' net turnover from Metro advertising sales. Metro also has a stake in the new operation with an option to increase it to 50 per cent.

Europapress is 50 per cent owned by the German publisher Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.
