The usual formula for a great ad is some amusing/beautiful images paired with a hit song.
The Works, an agency based in Sydney, did the opposite for Children’s Panadol – and it has worked just as well. The shop sought some funny and touching parent/child interactions on YouTube to create a montage demonstrating the lengths people go to keep their children happy. But the kicker is the soundtrack – The Works has commissioned Phonotheque to create an 80s-style rock anthem to accompany the images and it is spot-on. Close your eyes and it’s like listening to Poison or early Bon Jovi.
