WWAV Rapp Collins nets planning and buying for Fotango

Fotango, the online photo service, has awarded its media planning and buying account to WWAV Rapp Collins.

Fotango, the online photo service, has awarded its media planning

and buying account to WWAV Rapp Collins.

Media director Peter Mitchell will be in charge of the account, while

senior planner/ buyer Nick Harrison will be planning the media mix.

Mitchell said he would be taking a different approach to the launch,

compared with that of other dotcoms.

He said he would not embark on a brand-building exercise but rather a

direct marketing drive, with the key objective being to ’do business’.

His brief includes both online and offline activity.

Fotango launched its UK site last month and plans to become a

pan-European service. Launches in Germany and France are imminent.

Fotango claims to have taken a new approach to photographic

development.

Customers mail their film to Fotango using a freepost envelope and are

e-mailed the results. They may then choose and modify the prints they

want, and are only charged for the ones they order.

The Fotango website also offers photographers the chance to display

portfolios of their work.

WWAV Rapp Collins specialises in direct marketing. The agency also

handles the accounts for Craftmatic beds, Friends of the Earth and

Grattan.

Mike Colling is managing director of the agency and Mark Taylor heads

the broadcast department.
