Y&R wins pitch for Moet & Chandon’s European account

Young & Rubicam has won the dollars 7 million pan-European Moet & Chandon account after a head-to-head pitch against BBDO Europe.

Chandon account after a head-to-head pitch against BBDO Europe.



The initial pitch-list also included Publicis, J. Walter Thompson and

McCann-Erickson, before it was narrowed down to the final two. Saatchi &

Saatchi, the incumbent, did not repitch although its work for the brand

will continue to run throughout the summer.



Y&R Europe’s pitch was led by the Paris office, which will develop

creative work for the Moet & Chandon brand. A new campaign is expected

to appear in September, running in all the major European markets - the

UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and France. Local Y&R offices will adapt the

work to suit their own markets.



Media on the business will also be handled by Y&R Europe.



Moet & Chandon is the leading champagne brand in the UK. Saatchis won

the business from Bartle Bogle Hegarty, which had held the account for

18 months, in November 1995.
