Internet search engine Yahoo! has appointed Dublin-based online ad
service Ican to handle its sales in Ireland.
Yahoo! managing director Martina King said Ican would work alongside the
search engine’s UK and Ireland sales team. ’Our priority is to make sure
that Yahoo! is being represented at the highest standard in Ireland.’
She described the sales house as ’the expert in the Irish market’.
Ican chief executive Damian Ryan said online advertising was set to
’grow massively’ in Ireland. ’The average age net user in Ireland is 32.
They are relatively affluent and are open to buying new products in new
ways. It’s a marketer’s dream.’
Research by the sales house and the Association of Advertisers in
Ireland indicated that online adspend in Ireland will bring in revenues
of pounds 2.5 million by the end of this year and pounds 8.6 million by
2001. The same data revealed that around 400,000 adults in Ireland have
net access.
