Yakult, the fermented milk drink brand, makes science fun while drawing on its Japanese heritage in its latest ad.
Following its 2016 "Science not magic" campaign, the brand continues to raise awareness of its science-based product by debunking a magical myth about its origins. The spot by Quiet Storm is set on a floating island paradise, where a circle of devoted followers are met by a red-clad heroine holding an ancient, oversized bottle of Yakult. While a voiceover claims magical rituals helped create the drink and awaken the spirits of the beautiful gut, a straight-talking second voice cuts in to clarify that it was actually developed by Japanese scientists. The work was written by Laurence Quinn, art directed by Matthew Mifsud and directed by Tim Brown.
