Zenith Media is assuming full control of Zebra Media, the joint
media venture it established last year with Leagas Shafron Davis,
following Leagas Shafron’s demise into administrative receivership as a
result of financial problems (Campaign, 27 March).
As a fully owned Zenith subsidiary, Zebra is expected to retain its
identity and not be folded into its parent, alhough it is likely to
operate out of Zenith-owned offices.
Graham Duff, chief executive of Zenith, denied the acquisition was
complete, but it is thought that Zenith sees Zebra as a useful vehicle
for handling clients in conflict with those in the main agency. Zebra
runs media buying for Electrolux and acts as the media department for
several direct marketing agencies.
Speculation is also rife that Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper is about to be
assigned the Central Office of Information’s Inland Revenue and Special
Constable recruitment accounts, previously at Leagas Shafron. Mike
Davis, Leagas Shafron’s former managing director who has been closely
involved with COI business for more than four years, is expected to move
into Euro along with it.
Ron Leagas, the ex-chairman of Leagas Shafron, is currently working out
of the Edge, a through-the-line shop, amid reports that he will continue
his connection with the pounds 3.5 million Royal & SunAlliance Invest
Online account handled by his former agency.
He said: ’I know some people at the Edge. A number of freelances are
working on the Royal & SunAlliance business but I can’t comment on
whether or not I’m involved.’
