Tonic & Remedy, Shoreditch

What is it?

Tonic & Remedy is a new restaurant created by chef Paul Welburn, which celebrates Shoreditch’s history with apothecary. Expect smoked eel, jelly and seaweed scones, wild garlic risotto and rump of lamb shoulder shepherd’s pie with greens. Working alongside Welburn will be former Gherkin pastry chef, John Grantham.

The restaurant opens on 20 April in the M By Montcalm Hotel on City Road, Shoreditch.

No luck?

You could also try the Michelin-starred Rhodes W1 in Great Cumberland Place, where Welburn was formerly head chef. Rhodes W1 provides a new take on quintessentially British cuisine, in a relaxed yet chic London setting.

The Richmond, Haggerston

What is it?

A new venture from Australian chef Brett Redman and fashion guru Margaret Crow centred around snacks and comfort food. The Richmond said it will house east London’s first and only raw bar, serving several types of oysters and clams, a rotating selection of carpaccios and tartares, and fish.

Serious foodies will have made their reservations already for the Queensbridge Road restaurant’s launch night on Friday 20 March.

No luck?

Brett’s ventures include the three-time Michelin Bib Goumand winner Elliot’s in London’s Borough Market.

The Ivy, Covent Garden

What is it?

The iconic London restaurant will re-open in May after an extensive five-month refurbishment. The establishment aims to bring its restaurant, bar and private room into the 21st century. In fact, it will be auctioning its artwork, cutlery, glassware and linen from the restaurant at Sotherby’s this month.

When can I eat?

Mid-May 2015 – exact date TBC

No luck?

Skip dinner and head for cocktails at Milroy's of Soho, an old whisky shop on Greek Street, which opened on 6 March.
