Deliver the campaign to deliver tomorrow’s engineers

Engineering transforms our world. We are here to shape the future of engineering – championing excellence, defining policy and driving learning and development.

The UK is currently facing a major engineering skills shortage. A number of factors are affecting the number of young people choosing engineering careers, including perceptions and attitudes towards engineering, careers guidance in schools and subject choices made at key transition points in the education system.

The Engineering Talent Project is a multifaceted social marketing campaign to address this engineering skills shortages by changing public perceptions and attitudes towards engineering. The campaign will raise awareness of engineering careers among young people and highlight the breadth of opportunities a future in engineering can offer. You will take this established programme forward.

Working closely with our newly appointed advertising agency, you will deliver a marketing campaign that stimulates, challenges and wins hearts and minds. But that’s not all: you will also support the delivery of key policy messages to government to overcome structural barriers in STEM education; work closely with employers to improve their recruitment and workplace practices to maximise inclusion and equality of opportunity; and you will support our partner organisation to deliver the schools’ engagement programme “Tomorrow’s Engineers”.

Above all, you will build a powerful and compelling brand that puts engineering at the centre of careers education and revolutionises young people’s thinking – so we’re looking for the very best.

Needless to say, you will possess expert knowledge of marketing, advertising and social media, plus a high level of political awareness and cultural sensitivity. You will also support the fundraising and development, bringing a wide range of industry and other stakeholders into the campaign.

Creative, decisive and very analytical, you will share our passion for engineering and be determined to make a difference in everything you do. In short, you will be results-focused, self-motivated and highly credible – and ready to hit the ground running.
