Your key responsibilities as a HTML Email Developer will be to build and manage client email campaigns and support the team from end-to-end (design to delivery) on everything email. You will be collaborating closely with the organisation's preferred ESP - Cheetahmail (Experian) in order to build and evolve HTML emails with intense internal testing for the functional performance against industry best practice.

  • Populate, develop and build responsive/modular HTML emails for delivery via CheetahMail (Experian)
  • Perform cross-client testing using Litmus
  • Work with Project Managers to develop personalised emails using live/dynamic content, integrated web content, APIs and 3rd party apps (LiveClicker)
  • Adhere to production schedules and deadlines for all communications
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and report to key stakeholders / cross-functional teams to consistently deliver quality communications that support business objectives
  • Provide sound best practice direction and solutions to email campaign related challenges
  • Identify and promote opportunities to develop more engaging or interactive email using latest Kinetic techniques
  • Identify email campaign related performance, technical issues or insights and feed back into team (creative/design)
  • Support the implementation of new automated email initiatives
  • Always look for opportunities for improvement in design, development and process in order to evolve the email offering
  • Be confident as a subject matter expert/consultant to the team and to client when appropriate – it’s a collaborative environment where your ideas are welcomed

The ideal candidate:

Working alongside the creative team and digital designers, you will prepare, optimise and export assets from approved PSD design files before producing efficient HTML/CSS code to aide the development and production of a wide range of email communications, as you learn, discover and employ new technologies and techniques.

Essential Skills:


  • Good Knowledge of modular and responsive HTML and CSS for email marketing
  • Hand­written HTML & CSS (Correct use of markup and styling)
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • A solid understanding of cross-client/platform issues, code solutions, best practices and email guidelines/standards
  • A genuine passion for front-end development
  • Good Knowledge of CheetahMail (not essential) or similar email service platform
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative
  • Strong project management and prioritisation skills
  • Experience in an email marketing role - ideally within the corporate or finance sectors
  • Competent using PC and Mac
  • An online portfolio of projects demonstrating examples of work, personal projects or related educational background


  • Good working knowledge required in order to be able to: Tidy up and export assets
  • Image optimisation and compression
  • Make minor amends to text and images


  • Experience of email Design and UX
  • Knowledge of other Adobe CC Apps, Illustrator or Sketch is a bonus
  • Solid understanding or experience in developing interactive or kinetic emails
  • Wider knowledge of DM and digital marketing channels
  • Good data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Agency experience ­ whether in a freelance or in­-degree capacity
