The Role

As the Head of PR and Communications, you’ll be driving all aspects of the PR and communications function to maximise profile, reputation and market share amongst a broad mix of customers and suppliers. You’ll be driving your team to inspire new and existing partners, whilst ensuring the business proposition and narrative is consistent across all channels.

You’ll focus on the strategic development and execution of proactive PR and communications plans to support the delivery of key marketing messages and ensure positive brand equity with all key stakeholders. You’ll also be responsible for internal communications; ensuring effective communications across the business to create the feel of “One Company”.

Your core role responsibilities will be;

External Communication

Design and deliver a strategic communications plan that positively and proactively positions the company within the media landscape; driving brand awareness, engagement, retention and loyalty

Develop key messaging and positioning that clearly articulates the strategic objectives of the business maximising profile and reputation

Identify proactive opportunities to promote our messaging to our target audience through press and other PR channels, providing timely coverage across available media, including social media and online

Build the press office function to support the business including guidance and process, communications channels and spokesperson support

Devise and deliver multi-channel communication campaigns including email marketing, social media, marketing collateral and events

Drive social media presence across Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other social media platforms

Internal Communication

Develop an overarching calendar of key business communications to provide transparency to key senior stakeholders

Design and execute strategic communications to support business projects

Manage internal communications from the CEO - planning an annual calendar of regular communication opportunities including audience segmentation, delivery channels and content

Provide communications expertise to key senior stakeholders as appropriate

Creation of high quality materials to support major tenders and other presentations

Support and formalise the company approach to corporate responsibility

Team management 

Lead, manage and inspire the communications team. Encouraging their continual development through regular one to ones and talent discussions

Manage the workflow of the team, ensuring that the right projects are prioritised and time is allocated to support those priorities

Take responsibility for the quality control of the team’s work, within tight deadlines and client demands (internal and external)

Skills/Experience Required

A demonstrable track record of delivering high quality communications solutions and strategies


Excellent knowledge of both PR and Communications


Strong, well evidence background in senior leadership level communications planning and execution


A motivational leader with strong interpersonal skills as well as the confidence to lead inspire and influence with team and other departments


A skilled decision-maker with the proven ability to build relationships and credibility at the most senior levels


A strategic approach while being skilled at delivering tactical campaigns and materials in response to changing business priorities


Ability to work collaboratively as a wider leadership marketing team


Comfortable with delivering at pace and working in a commercial environment
