Senior M&A Planner
Senior M&A Planner – Radio & Education, Youth brands
Planners within BBC Marketing & Audiences (M&A) work to put insight at the heart of the BBC’s creative output; across all of our programmes, products, services and brands. We clarify the business objectives, articulate strategic challenges and spot opportunities for the future.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Planner to inspire, innovate & shape creative strategy across the youth brands in the BBC Radio and Education portfolio. This includes some of the nation’s biggest Youth Brands - BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1 Xtra, BBC Asian Network, BBC Bitesize and CBBC.
This is an opportunity for an inventive and creative thinker to focus the editorial strategy of multiple BBC youth projects and to influence the commissioning of some of the world’s greatest content.
This role provides an exciting challenge: can you apply your expertise, skills and instincts and curiosity directly to shaping BBC content and services to meet audience needs and the organisation’s public purposes?
The projects you would work on will influence what goes on air, online and on screen. You would work with content producers, content commissioners, heads of stations or services and researchers and marketers to develop both content and brand strategy.
The types of projects you would work on include:
- Evolving the station proposition for BBC Radio 1 and working to ensure it informs the on-air output
- Developing the short-form video strategy for BBC Radio 1
- Programme development with editors and commissioners for projects such as BBC Radio 1 comedy podcasts or The Surgery
- Working on pan-BBC projects such as understanding the needs and content preferences of minority audiences
- Shaping BBC Learning’s positive action initiatives such as Super Movers
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious creative leader with extensive experience of influencing and directing senior creative people and business decision-makers. You will be able to turn complex qualitative and quantitative research into compelling stories and inspirational stimulus for creatives.
You’ll be a curious and pragmatic problem solver with a natural flair for strategic thinking. You will be as comfortable facilitating ambitious creative conversations and honing commissioning briefs as you will be implementing and managing multi-stakeholder projects from conception to completion.
You will have solid strategic expertise with a collaborative style – someone who can make things happen. Above all else, we’re looking for someone who is passionate, motivated and inspired by the content, services and underlying public purposes of the Youth Radio and Education portfolio.
