Marketing Manager

Purpose

The marketing manager is responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plan for the company in order to attract potential customers and retain existing ones. Using market research and analysis to direct the marketing strategy and planning, the role oversees the production of all promotional materials and marketing campaigns.

Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Develop the marketing strategy for the company to support the achievement of company objectives
  • Define an annual marketing plan with key deliverables
  • Contributes to pricing strategy discussions, sharing market information and customer feedback

Campaign development and communication

  • Co-ordinate marketing campaigns with sales activities
  • Plan and implement promotional campaigns
  • Create and manage publication of a wide range of marketing material to support the marketing plan
  • Manage and improve lead generation campaigns, measuring results
  • Produce and proofread creative marketing content including videos and blog posts for both on line and print marketing campaigns
  • Develop product messaging that differentiates new products from others in the market
  • Work closely with design agencies and manage new product launches
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant people are kept informed of marketing objectives and activities
  • Communicate with target audiences and build and develop customer relationships
  • Brief press about new products and take part in presentations
  • Manage all social media communications to ensure consistent messaging and branding and to enhance audience engagement
  • Organise and attend events such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions

Supplier management

  • Assessment and selection of preferred partners i.e. design agencies, website providers etc
  • Liaise with designers and printers and organise product photo shoots
  • Communicate with various media buyers, advertising agencies and other services to help marketing projects come to fruition

Customers

  • Provide in depth information to interested clients
  • Build and develop customer relationships

Partner management

  • Development of partner portal to provide marketing collateral

Brand management

  • Responsibility for brand management and corporate identity
  • Approve and oversee the creative development of promotional materials, website content, advertisements and other marketing related projects

Market trends and competitor analysis

  • Research and analyse market trends, demographics, pricing schedules, competitor products and other relevant information to form appropriate marketing strategies
  • Conduct market research through regular customer liaison, customer questionnaires and focus groups
  • Through interviews, surveys, focus groups and sales data, gain insight into customer use of current products, untapped opportunities and buyer personas

CRM management

  • Maintain and update database
  • Ensure database has necessary information updated by other contributors

Data management

  • Monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing communications
  • Track all marketing and sales data and create detailed written reports and verbal presentations for the senior leadership team and board.
  • Adjust marketing campaigns and strategies as needed in response to collected data and other feedback

Budgeting

  • Manage the marketing budget
  • Develop cost effective marketing plans for each product or service

People Collaboration & Leadership

  • Interface with internal departments and key external stakeholders, in particular external creative agencies
  • Develop sales tools/collateral that supports and facilitates the selling process
  • Encourage internal stakeholders to share knowledge of business, products and ideas to create relevant and exciting marketing collateral

  • Cost per lead
  • £ revenue generated as a result of marketing campaigns
  • Traffic to lead ratio
  • Landing page conversion rate
  • No. of customer conversions generated through social media

Education and experience

Degree in Marketing (for example Chartered Institute of Marketing or Institute of Sales and Marketing Management). Proven experience as a Marketing Manager with experience at both strategic and tactical level. Knowledge of media channels and strong research background and ability to work in a standalone role. Experience of working in SME (£10-50m)
