Strategy Director, Central London – Up to £80k DOE (some flex)

My client’s ad practice was founded in 2008, with the idea of bringing the right people together to change the world. They need a big hitting, switched-on Strategy Director who wants an autonomous and influential role in a thriving and growing agency.

This agency has grown rapidly over the years – due in no small part to their pioneering work in taking their product into mobile. There are now over 60 of them, delivering everything from strategic insight and DM to innovative new products and ground-breaking digital campaigns. Our search for a Strategy Director is exciting as we know they’ll be in for a treat.

The Strategy Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer but with significant interaction with the co-founders. The role holder will sit on the senior leadership team and operate as an equal at that level in the organisation.

The Strategy Director role involves significant autonomy and, once established, the role holder would be expected to make decisions on client strategies, resource allocation, training & development. The development of budget and subsequent expenditure would be made in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer.

This Strategy Director will be accountable for the following, amongst others:

  • Lead, motivate and develop the planning team – holding every member to account for the quality of the department’s output
  • Draw together various disciplines – such as audience research, data analysis, product development & business planning – to produce coherent, effective and actionable strategies for clients
  • Generate and ensure the application of both audience insight and testing to maximise effectiveness across the agency
  • Work fluidly across audiences and channels
  • Demonstrate thought leadership within the agency and the sector
  • Build and demonstrate a collaborative approach with other teams
  • Help deliver the Agency’s key strategic goals as part of the leadership team

We also need this Strategy Director to show evidence of:

  • Delivering strategic solutions across a range of accounts or organisations
  • Strong management, leadership and influencing skills
  • Experience in not-for-profit or willingness to work within this sector
  • Ability to work across a range of audiences & channels including digital
  • A sound understanding of the theory and practice of strategic planning
  • Utilising and applying research and consumer insight
