Business Development Director - calling all serial killers
OK, so maybe I've been watching too many programmes on criminal profiling. But you’ve got to be honest: those serial killers would make great business development directors (as long as each client doesn’t end up being served with a fava beans and a nice chianti).
Think about it: they’re determined, committed, have a clear modus operandi, and are not frightened to do what it takes to achieve their goals. Equally, they identify their long-terms objectives, plan through the different stages with meticulous detail, and then execute.
At least that’s what I would imagine you understand (Disclaimer: the only ‘missing persons’ Tom Howe is involved with are of a recruitment variety).
How are these skills relevant I hear you ask? Well, the agency I’m recruiting for isn’t your standard player. They’re not the type who see business development as a spray and pray activity – a quick fix to ‘boost the numbers’ and busy idle fingers.
No, this is an agency that takes a more methodical approach. People who think in the long-term; who spend time identifying the right type of client; who invest in nurturing engagement; and who look to build meaningful and trusted relationships in support of long-term partnerships.
As for whom the role is for, it’s a strategic, results lead integrated marcoms agency nestled in the heart of London whose primary focus is the B2B sector (though not exclusively so) – a team of serious clever-clogs who’ve delivered consistent growth over the past 5 years.
In fact it’s due to this on-going success that they’re now seeking a Business Development Director to join them. To sit on the board and help shape, define and implement their new business strategy.
This is a role that’s big on planning, plotting, and delivering. If you’re interested, you’ll probably need to demonstrate a lack of serial killer experience, have a strong agency background, and ideally an impressive network within the B2B sector. You’ll also need to show a proven track record of success for winning new business. Most important of all: you’ll be well versed in sculpting a dynamic and practical new business strategy.
As for the day-to-day, this is not a role that’s based on hitting the phones and bombarding prospects with emails. Instead it’s about networking, researching, and meaningful conversations – as well as leading pitches and developing the existing client network.
In return for this endeavour, there’s a very generous package on offer – ranging from £60-75k plus uncapped commission and other benefits.
If you think you’ve got what it takes, and you have the drive, dedication, and chutzpah needed to succeed (thinking it through, maybe more this/less serial killerness), then apply today by contacting me, Tom Howe via the click apply button below.
