This is a rare opportunity to use your creative powers for good. Amnesty International wants to reach and persuade more people with its message of freedom, justice and equality. To do this, we are searching for a brand strategist who can help us see the world through the eyes of our supporters - present and future.
About the role
You will take on one of the great challenges of our time: finding out how to tap into people's empathy, connections and understanding to make them take action on human rights. You will advise us what we need to say, to whom, and how - especially looking at medium and platforms - in order to make change happen.
You'll talk to members and supporters of a global movement with national sections in more than 70 countries around the world. Whether it is through surveys, focus groups or social listening, you will keep you finger on the pulse keeping our cutting-edge team of creatives and communicators in touch with what people on the street care about. You will help the movement embrace the same techniques for audience analysis used in the worlds of business and politics.
You will keep our movement in touch with what is being talked about "beyond the Amnesty bubble", feeding insights and creative briefs to a large, successful communications team, providing the inspiration for messages and content that changes minds and wins debates.
You will take on the unique challenge of measuring a global brand like no other - one that aims to inspire people to take injustice personally and mobilize the humanity in everyone.
You'll work alongside a superb in-house communications team and brief external agencies to make sure our work has real and lasting impact. You'll act as the eyes and ears of the Amnesty movement, ensuring we're always adopting the best techniques for reaching the most people.
About you
Ideally, you'll be from an advertising or marketing background, inhouse or agency. Crucially, you will have a track record of advising and growing global brands.
You will be a listener who knows how to draw actionable insights from your target audience, be it through focus group - this sentence feels unfinished …
You will be comfortable with techniques like narrative framing, audience segmentation and personas and A/B testing.
You know how to measure brand equity and are passionate about selling ideas and values, not just products and experiences.
You will have solid political acumen, knowledge of international affairs, and have operated in many different global settings and cultures.
About us
Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 7 million people who campaign for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all. We reach almost every country in the world and have:
- more than 2 million members and supporters who drive forward our fight for rights
- more than 5 million activists who strengthen our calls for justice
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, fairness, freedom and truth wherever they're denied. And whether we're applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we're all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
At Amnesty International, we are passionate about what we do and we are proud of our achievements as a movement. To compensate our employees for the critical work they do, we reward them through a combination of an attractive and sector competitive salary and benefits package, high levels of engagement and involvement, and a commitment to employee development.
Benefits include 37 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays and grace days), pension scheme, employee assistance programme, life assurance and many more benefits designed to suit your own personal lifestyle. All of this, in a professional, engaging environment.
