Our client was founded on a belief that the players within the digital transformation consulting landscape are failing clients badly. It wants to be a challenger and a viable alternative to mainstream consultancies,

It has two simple objectives
1.Get the best briefs in the industry, and
2.To work with the best people in the industry to solve them.

All of the ingredients are in place for our client to have a successful period of growth:
-Well-funded with further investment potential
-Broad and high quality contingent workforce
-Well-understood problem area
-Lack of viable independent suppliers
-Industry-leading case study arriving in December 2018

This role is to work with the founders to find the next client and others beyond. To leverage a network or build one that yields the next chapter of our company's growth.

The expectation is that this role will have very little delivery responsibility once the client is won, but will take on account management responsibilities until the company is big enough to manage this as a dedicated function.

The client questions will be diverse, so too the industry, but will largely be based on making something that changes something for their business - be that a product, service, strategy, team, innovation centre.

To support in identifying and winning clients, we have planned to provide significant resources:
-Dedicated, leading PR agency for thought leadership and press engagement on a monthly retainer
-Budgeted digital marketing and branding spend
-Rainmaker network and access to the 'black books' of a handful of senior pros

You will probably someone that has worked at strategic design agencies (as opposed to pure creative) or run accounts as a management consultant - this is a person that has enjoyed being the 'most agency' person in a room of consultants but the 'most consultancy' person in a room of agency folks.

All the normal stuff applies for a business development leader of an ambitious, new company:
-All of the drive - network to leverage, experience closing deals and leading pitches, comfortable engaging senior clients
-None of the fuss - understands the company is new and forming and doesn't have the normal perks of steady-state agencies (like a huge creds-reel off the bat)

Most importantly, this person is happy to be joining an entrepreneurial endeavour and one that has an ambitious and simple objective (albeit lofty) - to bloody the nose of the big consultancies. A healthy cynicism of the status quo is respected, as long as it is matched with an energy to do important work for good clients.

This is employee number one in a business that hopes to have dozens within a few years. It will ultimately become a people leadership role, but on day 1 will likely involve 'flying solo' quite regularly - it will need someone as patient as they are ambitious.

For the right person, this is a great role. The opportunity to shape and grow a new business, with equity - without the risk of starting it from scratch and generating cashflow to fund the tough early days - a good 2018 and external funding has effectively underwritten the next two years of operation.
