Global Business Development Director - Promotional Marketing

Our client isn’t your typical promotional marketing business. Quite the opposite. With their head office based just outside North London, this global business has over 50 offices worldwide and currently partner with some of the biggest brands in the world, across a number of different sectors. You name the brand and they probably work with them in some shape or fashion.
This established promotional marketing business has benefited from a very strong reputation and the guidance of a well-connected and respected CEO. However, this isn’t a sustainable long-term plan and currently a bottle neck for opportunities coming in.
Therefore, the board of directors have agreed that it’s time to bring on board an experienced Business Development Director who has exceptional relationship skills and vast knowledge within the promotional marketing or materials arena.
This is a senior management role where you will be responsible for ALL new prospective clients and their development, tenders and pitch scenarios. However, we should highlight that cold new business will ONLY be a small part of your role, as a vast majority will be engaging with existing business relationships.
You will also need to be well versed in leadership and team management as you will have a dedicated support team consisting of a Marketing Manager, Tender Manager and Business Development Manager.
This should be a given, but naturally you will work very closely with the CEO and will be intelligent, proactive, robust and have a diplomatic approach to both clients and their global offices.
Below is a short list of the ideal key requirements we are looking for in a Business Development Director:
- Very strong internationally minded people skills
- Comfortable in successfully generating new client opportunities
- Proven ability to close new client opportunities
- Demonstrable international leadership and management capabilities
- Diplomatic, charismatic, no nonsense, proactive, can-do approach
- Promotional marketing and/or promotional materials experience
- Ability to work autonomously and act as a decision maker
- Flexible approach to work
Its important to highlight that although you will be based in the UK both out of the office and occasionally from home, you should allow an element of travel. Maximum twice a month for 2-3 days at a time.
In return for your skills and attributes as a successful Business Development Director, our client offers a generous package consisting of a basic ranging between £70-80k with a generous comms structure plus benefits.
