Venue Marketing & Business Development Manager (London venue)
Exciting opportunity for a Business Development & Venue Marketing Manager to join a stunning historic London events venue!
A very special historical London venue with several amazing venue spaces used for an array of high profile corporate events, award ceremonies, concerts, special events and banquets.
This is a unique mixed role of business development, marketing and promoting the venue and of proactively developing and managing relationships with clients (NOT a sales role) that will suit an enthusiastic business development and marketing professional looking to join a small commercial & private events team who deliver very high profile and prestigious events at one of London's most unique and historical venues.
This Business Development Manager role (reporting to the private events manager) will see you promoting the venue through a range of marketing activities that will increase revenue from existing clients and bring in new business from other prospective clients and professionals within the industry. The end-goal of this being to grow lead generation, increase occupancy and maximise commercial income from venue hire and events. The team deliver over 500 events (for up to 700 guests) each year, from very prestigious formal events for royalty and heads of state, to glitzy and glamorous dinners & awards and a key part of your role will be to maximise the use of the venue & event spaces with innovative and effective marketing and relationship building activities.
- Research, develop and implement the venue's marketing strategy
- Create and roll out marketing initiatives to promote commercial bookings
- Proactively initiate and develop relationships with new and existing clients & suppliers
- Maximise the commercial use of the venue
- Deputise for the Private Events Manager as/when required
IMPORTANT Although you'll be aiming to increase bookings & revenue through your marketing & promotional activities this is NOT a target-driven sales role.
You'll be a highly personable Business Development Manager with 5+ years' experience in event and/or venue related marketing, business development and client relationship management.
You'll have demonstrable experience in researching, developing and implementing venue marketing strategies and a strong background of promoting venue spaces to clients (both existing and prospective) to maximise occupancy & commercial income and grow lead generation. You'll have a strong all-round skill set of business development, targeting new business, account management, up-selling and client relationship building along with a good understanding of venue-side event operations and some experience of / or exposure to organising corporate, private and commercial events for 500+ guests.
You'll need to be senior and confident enough to deputise for the Private Events Manager when needed and must have exceptional attention to detail, a very high standard of English (written and oral) and good proof reading skills.
From a personality point of view, you'll be versatile & adaptable, proactive, detailed & organised and super-enthusiastic with a fantastic work ethic. You'll also have exceptionally strong communication skills, be able to work well under pressure in a venue-side marketing and business development environment and have a genuine and natural flair for networking.
