Account Director – Brand Strategy & New Business – are you ready to challenge?

Sometimes a role lands in your inbox that excites you as if you were a candidate – this is one such role.  It’s for a market-leading sports and entertainment agency; home to some of sports biggest brands and grandest occasions.  They deliver world-class sponsorship campaigns for world-class clients and do so by challenging conventions and challenging themselves.

The brief calls for an Account Director to join the new business function.  It sits within the diverse strategy and consultancy team - a high-calibre bunch with specialist skills that bring research, insight, planning and strategic rigour to existing, new and prospective clients around the world.

The successful candidate can expect to project manage, win new business and nurture existing client relationships.  They will call on their natural drive and boundless ambition to grow the roster, liaise with clients and use the agencies’ substantial talent to help turn brand objectives into world-class campaigns. 

The role helps ‘bring it all together’, blending instinctive knowledge of the agencies’ resources and a deep understanding of the client’s brand to ensure challenging, market-leading activity.  It will support colleagues across the business, challenge them to deliver and represent them as the key relationship holder.

Key responsibilities include

  • Interrogate briefs and identify ‘how to win’
  • Lead pitch responses including identifying requirements and preparation of materials
  • Support training of colleagues and team members in optimising the pitch process
  • Actively support new business projects and develop strong relationships with existing and prospect clients
  • Work with colleagues to improve the quality of and grow account of work for existing clients
  • Collaborate with clients and give them deeper insights into the opportunity sponsorship can play in hitting their wider business objectives
  • Contribute to the wider team – enhancing the level of thinking and injecting industry insight across the team
  • Challenge yourself, your colleagues and your clients to push for continuous improvement in all you do!

To be successful you’ll have a degree, a solid agency background and experience in leading pitch teams.  You’ll be a natural communicator and collaborator and have proven ability to work across multiple departments, with people at all levels and in a fast-paced environment.  You must be strategic and perceptive – read between the lines to help understand what the client asks for and deliver what they really need.  You should have an interest in sponsorship and be up to speed on market trends and innovations.  You’ll be flexible, proactive and ambitious and be able to think on your feet.  You’ll have great organisation skills, be able to prioritise and able to deliver multiple projects.
