Strategic Communications Manager

Are you a communications specialist looking for a fresh challenge?  Do you want to apply your expertise to some of the most pressing and important issues facing the UK? We are looking to recruit astute, talented and creative strategic communication managers with excellent organisational skills to join the Home Office’s Communications Directorate.

The department is responsible for a wide variety of policies and operational activity instrumental to ensuring the UK’s safety, security and prosperity – from counter-terrorism, policing and border security to immigration, modern slavery and the fight against serious and organised crime.

Our teams play a vital role in ensuring these issues are communicated effectively and powerfully across a wide range of channels.
We are looking for candidates with drive, sound judgement, an excellent understanding of the media landscape and significant communications experience. They must be able to turn complex information into clear and impactful messages and work to tight deadlines. We value people who bring fresh ideas and new approaches to ensure that our teams are constantly moving forward. This is a vibrant, energising place to work where individuals’ ideas are championed.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for reaching audiences with credible communications that build trust and engagement. They will display strong management skills and be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships both within the department and beyond.
They will be expected to support the development, planning and implementation of communications programmes and campaigns that deliver impact and measurable change.

The Home Office offers excellent career progression prospects and invests in ongoing professional development. Successful candidates will be entitled to a competitive pension and benefits package, and have access to extensive professional support networks, such as the Government Communications Service, just as you would expect from a large, progressive employer like the Civil Service.

We are an equal opportunities employer and value diversity and inclusion. We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive workplace where all our people are able to bring their whole selves to work and perform at their very best.
