One of the UK's biggest success stories in the food and drinks industry is on the lookout for a seasoned Head of Customer Insights to come and spearhead their research function. This English brand has gone international in recent years, and as a result of this, significant investment is being put into research and the overarching marketing strategy. Boasting a revenue in excess of £700m a year, this company shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, their plans for expansion internationally are simply exciting!!

What you'll be doing

As the Customer Insight lead, you'll be reporting into the CMO, and will be responsible for the research arm of the marketing strategy, across the globe. This is no easy feat, but if you're a very experienced insight professional with industry experience, this is just the challenge you'll welcome! You'll start by evaluating the current strategy, building a team around you, sourcing the best external agencies, and getting behind this business' vision and ethos. You'll also start scrutinising customer data from the myriad of sources at your disposal, and work with senior stakeholders within NPD, Finance, Operations and Procurement to ensure that research underpins key business decisions. Essentially, you'll be the ambassador for insight rather than instinct-driven decisions.

Over time, you'll get to know your markets inside and out. You will be on top of all key trends, your competitors and what they're doing, who your customers are, how economic factors influence the business, and you will have a clear understanding of the products and pricing. This role requires you to be adaptable, visible in the business, pro-active, inquisitive, and curious. In return, you'll get to build something great and be proud of the company you work for!

What experience you'll need to apply for the role

  • Extensive experience within retail, and more specifically - food and drinks categories
  • Fantastic stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data
  • Strong statistical analysis skills (SQL would be an advantage)
  • Ability to manage external agencies
  • A strong understanding of marketing
