Haymarket’s Data Protection Team is looking for a Business Analyst for a 6 month contract to focus on conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) for existing, new and changing business processes and technologies across our organisation.

As Business Analyst you’ll be responsible for identifying where personal data is processed via interviews and documentation. You will then understand and document the detailed flow of personal information, working collaboratively with business owners, developers and third party technology providers. You will identify risks associated with the DPIA and work closely with the data protection team to rate the risks and agree mitigating actions.

Department Description

Data Protection sits within Haymarket’s Technology department.  The data protection team are responsible for putting in place policies, processes and training to ensure individuals rights are safeguarded and Haymarket operates within Data Protection legislation

Role Summary

As a Business Analyst you are part of the Data Protection Team. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer and business stakeholders, your focus is to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) for existing, new and changing business processes and technology across Haymarket. You are responsible for identifying where personal data is processed via interviews and documentation. You will then understand and document the detailed flow of personal information, working collaboratively with business owners, developers and third party technology providers. You will identify risks associated with the DPIA and work closely with the data protection team to rate the risks and agree mitigating actions.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Work with business stakeholders, subject matter experts and third party suppliers to conduct interviews/workshops to research, audit and document data processing activities for both existing and new business processes
  • Produce and maintain appropriate outputs; Data Protection Impact Assessments, Record of Processing Activities, and the Risk Register
  • Present information clearly and concisely to the Data Protection Team in order to document and manage follow up actions

Technical & Professional Skills (Knowledge, Understanding, Experience, Education)

  • Experience as a Business Analyst working within a technology team
  • Business Process mapping
  • Organised and analytical with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to present ideas verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to explore and fully understand many diverse business datasets
  • Familiarization with GDPR and data privacy regulations
  • Excellent facilitation skills

Valuable to have:                          

  • Background in data protection & or business process mapping
  • Formal Business Analyst qualifications
