This is an exciting time in the life of the Church, with a programme of renewal (‘Reaffirming our Calling’) that has begun and needs to continue gaining momentum. Communications – through all media – has a key role to play in this.

You may currently be in the private sector or in a not-for-profit, where you can show a track record of excellence in media and communications. You must be used to strategic thinking but also very effective at managing the day to day under pressure and in response to competing demands. You need to be a team player, attentive to the views of others and sensitive to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.

You need also to be able to speak for and with the Church. That means having an understanding of the context for Christian life and mission in today’s society and of the language of Christian discourse. A theological background, or detailed knowledge of Methodism, are not essential qualifications but an ability to grasp what the Church is about and to speak its language is vital.
