Purpose of Role

We are looking for a talented and driven Account Director to join our UK agency. You’ll become part of an established team, looking after one of the agencies longest standing accounts. You’ll be an experienced people manager, with a relentless desire for developing a high performing team who deliver excellence, on brief, on budget and on time. You will have excellent communication skills, a forensic attention to detail and be able to build and maintain strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the financial growth of your account(s) including proactively identifying new business opportunities within them
  • Ensure delivery against clients’ budgets, whilst maintaining margin for the agency, managing forecasting process, negotiating fees and managing invoicing
  • To own development of Account Plans for your clients
  • To deliver creative and service excellence for your clients
  • Creative brief writing: collaboration with Planning and Creative leadership to develop strong briefs
  • Ensure that the standard of service provided to clients continually meets and exceeds clients’ expectations
  • To review all work presented to clients ensuring they meet April Six high standards and are ‘on brief’ and ‘strong creatively’
  • To build and maintain strong relationships with clients – to be viewed by the clients as critical to the success of their business
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and the sector in which they operate
  • To lead and direct the strategic development of your account(s)
  • Actively participate in the strategic planning of campaigns and undertake commercial performance reviews for every campaign
  • To manage your team and other resources within the agency to achieve the highest level of client service
  • Own the creation and oversee the execution of personal development plans for your team
  • To ensure your team is optimised effectively, right people in the right places
  • To maintain and develop extensive knowledge of all aspects of marketing including new channels, trends, strategies and technologies/tools

  • Able to communicate these strategic thoughts succinctly
  • Good creative judgment
  • Able to manage budgets and forecast effectively – maintaining margin
  • Able to prioritise workloads for self and others ensuring that all projects are delivered on time
  • Able to develop strong partnerships with clients
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Able to build strong internal relationships with line management, team peers and leadership
  • Able to move quickly and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Able to enthuse and motivate others

Ideal Characteristics

  • Experience working within a fully integrated B2B marketing agency
  • Experience of planning & selling (Pan-European) marketing communication strategies
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Highly experienced at presenting ideas
  • Experience of working with technology clients


Highly competitive salary plus a great benefits package including; 25 days’ holiday per year, pension and Bupa Healthcare (these will be added to the package following successful completion of the 4 month probation period).
