In this role, we’ll look to you to lead the events team to successfully deliver a full calendar of national and high profile events. Our events team manage around 250 consumer, supplier and internal events across the country each year, from charity events to supplier awards. And it’ll be up to you to make sure that each and every one of them lands successfully, on time and within budget.

What you’ll do:

  • Take our brand, customer and communication strategies and turn them into an events activation plan; making sure Co-op’s brand, values, purpose and commitments are at the core of every event 
  • Advise the Director of Marketing on our future strategy; sharing your expertise and supporting key decision making
  • Take a strategic lens over the Co-op events plan, making sure the team are on track 
  • Look at the best way to drive sales and profit for external charity events 
  • Own project meetings for more high profile and flagship events 
  • Lead and coordinate the events team (7 colleagues) to successfully deliver events
  • Manage and delegate ad hoc requests from the business
  • Manage the overall events budget and allocation
  • Hold regular check in and drop in meetings to keep ahead of what’s going on
  • Work with colleagues, leaders and teams across the Co-op, managing expectations 
  • Look at how we can evolve and roll out our ‘taste and tell’ proposition across other locations

This role will suit people who have:

  • Senior event management experience working across high profile consumer facing events 
  • Great people management and leadership skills
  • Experience of taking strategies and applying to events
  • Great influencing and negotiation skills
  • Amazing relationship management skills, up to a senior level 
  • An innovative and forward thinking approach
  • The ability to confidently deal and manage complex problems
  • Evidence of driving cost efficiencies and maximising return
  • The ability to work at pace and juggle multiple priorities
  • Retail events experience – this would be a huge advantage
